Performance: Sound Waves Symphony

Sunday, 08 March, 2015

Following an incredibly exciting few months of collaborative work, my first symphony received its premiere at the Turner Sims, Southampton. The piece, The Sound Waves Symphony was commissioned by Wildern School with funds from ArtsWork and was a community symphony created by myself, year nine students from the school, and adults from the local community.

We worked together over a three-month period to create the piece using all sorts of different instruments and stimuli including boomwhackers, sample pads, beatboxing, surround sound glockenspiel, Taylor Swift, water butts, extended violin techniques, grand piano, and glow sticks. Creating a piece in this way with such an eclectic mix of people has been a real pleasure and an incredibly rewarding experience.
